ACM Awards Announce Cast, Including Lainey Wilson and Kane Brown

This Country Music Academy and Dick Clark Productions announced an initial cast of 15 actors for their upcoming award show on Prime Video, with a heavy focus on young actors who have the lion’s share of the nominations, in the kudocast on May 11.

Represented in the first list of performers lainey wilsonwith six nominations for ACM AwardsAnd cane coffee, Luke Combs, Miranda Lambert, and Cole Swindell, there are five each. Other candidates named for a performance space are Morgan Wallen, Ashley McBryde, Bailey Zimmerman, the War and Agreement, Cody Johnson and Jason Aldean.

It’s sure to get some attention from the show, newcomer Jelly Roll; While she didn’t go to the show with any nominations, she was one of the hottest freshmen of the moment and her appearance in the recent CMT Music Awards telecast has been considered one of the highlights.

A few longer-running country stars – Dolly Parton, Keith Urban and Jo Dee Messina – have also joined the bill so that the awards aren’t seen as a bastion of artists who have come into the limelight only in the past six years. Parton is co-hosting the show with Garth Brooks and will close the show with what was announced as the world premiere of the first single from his upcoming “rock” album.

Songs by other artists have not been announced, but Messina will likely be singing “Heads Carolina, Tails California,” the country old man Swindell used on his 2022 hit “She Had Me at Heads Carolina.”

The ACMs’ leading nominee, Hardy, who has been nominated seven times, was not announced as part of the initial performance roster, but it would be a big surprise if he didn’t get a spot for the show. Thursday’s announcement reiterated that more players will be announced in the two weeks before the show.

This is the second consecutive year that the ACM Awards will be available to watch live via an ad-free live stream exclusively on Prime Video. Not relying on a traditional broadcast component means it will be live in all time zones, and the west coast doesn’t have to wait for a tape-delay broadcast in prime time. It’s available to watch on Prime Video and the Amazon channel on Twitch on May 11 at 8 p.m. PT, 7 CT and 5 PT. From the next day, it can be streamed for free on Amazon Freevee on demand.

The 2023 webcast will mark the second launch of ACMs from the Lone Star state, with a base at Ford Center in Star in Frisco, Texas, adjacent to Dallas. The show was held in Texas for the 50th time, most recently at AT&T Stadium in 2015, setting a Guinness record for the most attended awards show ever.
