Album Review: Max Jury – ‘Avenues’ — When The Horn Blows

Max Jury is a talented American singer-songwriter who will release his third album ‘Avenues’ on March 31st. Max Jury has just released a single ‘Peace of Mind’, an indie-rock tune that was co-written by London Grammar’s Dan Rothman. Max himself has said that ‘Peace of Mind’ is a song about trying to stick together and find some sanity in an increasingly crazy world. He said: “It’s about feeling overwhelmed by everything that’s been unfolding and how disconnected and individualistic our society has become.”

In 2020, during the pandemic, Max Jury started working on the album ‘Avenues’. Stuck in North Carolina, he used a home studio and the help of his friend Stacy Harden to begin writing his album. Before, he later traveled to London, connecting with London Grammars Dan Rothman, after connecting through Instagram. Max also began working with the incredible Grammy Award winner Jimmy Hogarth, a producer who has worked with the likes of Amy Winehouse, Suzanne Vega, and Poaolo Nutini.

“Avenues is the album I always wanted to make.” Max explains. “It’s the closest I’ve ever come to being my true self as an artist, and it re-inspired me to keep pursuing this whole music thing. It’s about self-reflection and discovery, it’s about being reborn, and it’s about not giving up on a dream. But the most important thing is to be present on the trip.” – Max Jury on his latest album ‘Avenues’.

Max Jury burst onto the music scene in 2016, following the release of his first single ‘Numb’, which became a worldwide hit with over 40 million streams to date. He later released his self titled first album ‘Max Jury’. Before releasing his second album in 2019 ‘Modern World’. A record whose campaign was affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

‘Avenues’ is the perfect album with Ten Tracks as well as a collaboration from the amazing Delilah Montagu, a 21 year old British singer-songwriter. ‘Avenues’ is an Album that will leave you mesmerized. It is a truly immersive experience, an album with themes of floating guitars, beautiful raw vocals and perfect melodies. ‘Avenues’ is an album you will reach for every day, taking you on a journey of tranquility, leaving you calm and content.
