Buck Meek Announces New Album, Signs to 4AD

Buck MeekTexas-born singer-songwriter and guitarist. Grand ThiefHe signed with 4AD and announced his third solo album “Haunted Mountain”, which is scheduled for release on August 25.

Meek teased the upcoming song with a music video for the lead single, “Haunted Mountain” co-written by Jolie Holland.

According to the announcement, the album is about love and is “something bigger than love, something that doesn’t exactly challenge love but stands in opposition to it. A sensuality or a fullness that seeks the soul.”

In Meek’s own words, “Not a breakup song, but a real love song written in earnest? This is now a taboo. Sometimes it feels like all the great love songs have already been written.”

Meek’s band includes guitarist Adam Brisbin, drummer Austin Vaughn, and pedal steel guitarist Mat Davidson, who produced the new album. Ken Woodward joined in the bass sessions and Meek’s brother Dylan Meek contributed piano and synths. Adrian Olsen recorded and mixed “Haunted Mountain”.

Playing the opening sets of Big Thief’s latest tour, Meek and his band made fun of some unreleased songs, including the breezy title track and the explosive “Where You’re Coming From”.

Meek will embark on a European tour this fall, starting on August 18 at Brecon Beacons, England and ending on September 19. 16, Bologna, Italy. It will play on Racket on October 27 in New York.

Meek’s discography outside of Big Thief includes the 2014 “A-Sides” and “B-Sides” duet project with Adrianne Lenker, as well as Meek’s 2018 self-titled album and 2021’s “Two Saviors.”

Big Thief is also signed to independent record label 4AD.
