Sixteen additional names were announced Wednesday for the already packed two-night series when it first went on sale in January – and sold out almost immediately – representing a roughly 50% increase on an advertised 30-star bill.

Newly added stars from the world of rock, country and other genres include: dave matthews, emmylou harrisJack Johnson and other Texans George Strait and Gary Clark Jr.

Kris Kristofferson, Nelson’s only surviving Highwayman friend, was also appointed to the roster. Shooter Jennings, the son of one of those Highwaymen, also joins the bill. Dwight Yoakam, Stephen Stills, Rodney Crowell, Booker T. Jones, Buddy Cannon, Daniel Lanois, Jamey Johnson, Waylon Payne and Lily Meola are among others newly called to appear this Saturday or Sunday.

The “or” about the two weekend shows applies here, as most of the 45+ artists will only appear on Saturday or Sunday and not both. Tickets for both nights were sold as a two-night-only package, festive style.

Nelson turns 90 on Saturday.

Among those announced during the first presentation in January are Neil Young, Snoop Dogg, Chris Stapleton (who will be doing double duty on the Nelson tribute and Stagecoach this weekend), Kacey Musgraves, the Chicks, Miranda Lambert, Beck, Ziggy Marley, Tom Jones. , Sturgill Simpson, Lumineers, Sheryl Crow, Billy Strings, Norah Jones, Tyler Childers, Margo Price, Bob Weir, the Avett Brothers, Allison Russell, Leon Bridges, Norah Jones, Warren Haynes, Lukas Nelson, Charley Crockett, Lyle Lovett, Nathaniel Rateliff, Rosanne Cash, Orville Peck, Edie Brickell, Particle Kid and Warren Haynes.

The shows are hosted by Blackbird Presents and Live Nation Hewitt-Silva. Blackbird Presents often broadcasts home video presentations of commemorative events, so these two nights are expected to be filmed for the final screening, although no plans have been announced.
