Known for transcending genres, prolific Australian rock band King Gizzard & the Wizard Lizard performs “Petrodragonic Apocalypse; or Dawn of Eternal Night: The Destruction of Planet Earth and the Beginning of the Brutal Curse.
I bet you can’t say that three times fast.
The group’s 24th album “Petrodragonic Apocalypse” will be released on June 16 with the KGLW label. In parallel with the announcement, King Gizzard released the record’s lead single “Gila Monster” and an eerie music video where the rest of the band gathers around a witch’s cauldron as lead singer Stu Mackenzie wears a cape and sings atop a snowy mountain. . .
The band is also about to embark on an international tour, starting May 28 in Boston Calling and ending September 19. Tour 3 at England’s End of the Road Festival includes multi-show residences in Chicago, Denver, Seattle and Pelham, Tenn. On June 21, they’ll play a “three-hour marathon set” in their biggest single venue show to date at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
Composed of Mackenzie, Ambrose Kenny-Smith, Cook Craig, Joey Walker, Lucas Harwood, and Michael Cavanagh, King Gizzard takes the challenge of thrash metal with their 2019 album “Infest the Rats’ Nest.”
According to a press release sent by the band, “Rats’ Nest”, “Rats’ Nest” have become one of the favorites among the band’s discography and are the album’s neck-breaking, devil-horn anthems. Highlights that remain on Gizzard set lists to date, mixing moshpits to ecstasy nightly. It was meant to be a one-off, but ever since that first trip to the wild wastelands of Thrash, the Gizzards have heard the siren of metal in the wind.”
King Gizzard has since released nine studio albums, five of which are in 2022 alone.
