Venus Grrrls – ‘Sudocream Queen’ — When The Horn Blows

Leeds Alt-Rock group VENUS GRRRLS enchanted with their new single Sudocream Queen.

Inspired by the Riot Grrrl era, VENUS GRRRLS is an alternative rock band from Leeds. Singer Grace Kelly (aka GK) leads the band with Hannah Barraclough on bass, Grace Stubbings on synth, and Gabby Cooke on drums.

The girls express their empowering expressions on their energetic new track, Sudocream Queen. GK tells us: “From the act of applying cream on acne every night, the complex and contradictory relationship with body image is touched upon in Sudocream Queen. I have endured many changes in my body over the years and have therefore had to rebuild myself and what happened with it. my relationship, Sudocream Queen is the experience of doing so.

Going further, GK adds:

“It also adds pressure to struggle with other people’s perceptions and ideas about your body, which in many cases can feed into your own consciousness. With her tender love for our inner child and her empowering rhetoric for adulthood, Sudocream Queen is our solace.”

With a heavy rock vibe, dirty distorted guitars and an energetic rhythm, you can still hear GK’s strong vocal accent giving it an authentic spark. The chorus is definitely catchy and the lyrics can definitely be associated with other “Sudocream Queens”.

2022 was a big year for the band, not only making Spotify’s editorial playlists “All New Rock”, “Fresh Finds: Rock” and “Hot New Bands” but also being heard on channels like BBC Radio 1, BBC 6. Introducing Music, Radio X, Sirius XM and BBC, Playing up to 8 on BBC Radio 1.

After supporting artists like Dream Wife, Black Honey, and Crawlers, they are no stranger to the scene and hope to bring their bright energy and Riot Grrrl Power around the world.
